# Data export: your data, as a package, whenever you want it

> Owners export the whole workspace as one package or pick what goes in; contact lists open straight in Excel with custom fields and notes, even after you leave.

**The problem this solves:** Leaving a CRM means begging support for a dump; the data is yours, the export should be a button.

**In short:** Your data is yours. Owners export the whole workspace as a single package —
contacts, deals, files — or pick what goes in and get word when the package is ready.
Contact lists export as an Excel file that opens directly, with your custom fields and notes,
phone numbers exactly as entered.

## What you can do

- **Export everything** in one archive, or **pick the sections**.
- **Export contact lists** as Excel or CSV, custom fields and notes included.
- **Export after the end.** A closed workspace stays available for a while, so you can still
  take what you need, including records you must keep.

## How it works

Exports are prepared in the background and offered for download to the person who asked;
access checks apply to the export and its download like to any other record.

## New in this feature

- Platform 0.25.4: A contact can carry a salutation — Frau or Herr — and it comes along in the data export.
- Platform 0.25.4: Excel sheets, CSV and text files can be stored; Excel with macros stays out.
- App 0.28.2: Closing a workspace now leaves time to export what the law requires you to keep, with a read-only archive on offer.
- Platform 0.17.1: A closed workspace stays available for a while, so you can still export what you need, including records you must keep.
